Davie, Florida - June 16, 2016, ASCE Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Branches recently hosted the 2016 ASCE Tri-County Workshop at the Long Key Nature Center. Over 250 industry professionals were in attendance, including Handex’s own principal engineer, Timothy Harman. The event was a great networking and information exchange opportunity as well to highlight the trends, issues, challenges, and solutions within the engineering community to respond to climate change regarding adaptability and resiliency. In addition, through generous sponsorship, the branches helped raise funds for scholarships offered to aspiring engineers from the local community.
The theme of this year’s workshop was “The State and Future of South Florida’s Infrastructure”. Topics covered ranged from transportation, sea level rise and climate change, waste and wastewater, and utility management issues. Also highlighted was the groundbreaking and collaborative organization of the Four-County Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact.
