PROFILE

This project included the dredging and dewatering of sediment using geomembranes for a drinking water reservoir in a plant that draws and treats water from the Delaware River. This plant provides 40 million gallons a day of drinking water to Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties in southern New Jersey. All work had to be executed while the plant was operating.

For this project Handex constructed a dewatering pad (280’ x 210’) with a drainage sump along with a distribution manifold and polymer makeup injection system, installed four (4) Geo Tubes (100’ long with a 50’ circumference) and laid out approximately 800’ of various size hoses. Handex’s Pit Hog 40 dredge was utilized to perform the 21 days of dredging required. The overall life cycle of this project was 18 months from the time the opportunity was identified, strategy developed, proposal prepared / submitted and ultimate completion replacing the incumbent.
