As of today, April 21, 2016, Handex has achieved 688 days without any worksite injuries. This accomplishment represents our commitment to health and safety while demonstrating our ability to maintain a culture of accountability.

Handex emphasizes safety as a core value on every worksite. Our employees participate in frequently held safety meetings and undergo 40 hour HAZWOPER training. They are also fully trained in a proactive behavioral based safety program known as the Loss Prevention System (LPS). We empower each employee to be a safety specialist by encouraging hazard recognition and mitigation reporting.

What Can Your Business Do to Promote Health and Safety?

Promoting health and safety at work is a sure way to reduce liabilities. At Handex, we invest heavily into the health and safety of all our personnel. Here are a few tips for promoting awareness throughout your company:

  • Empower your employees – Authorize all employees to exercise a Stop Work Authority if they feel conditions are unsafe for any reason.
  • Promote a culture of safety – Bring in safety experts to consult your staff and train employees on safe work practices. Make safety training a requirement of employment.
  • Involve employees in pre-job analysis – This will help them determine how to do the job safely based on previous work.

Distracted Driver Awareness Month

At Handex, we strive to make safety a tenet of our company culture. This is why we are promoting National Distracted Driver Awareness Month. Every year, approximately 1,600,000 accidents are caused by texting and driving with 330,000 of those accidents resulting in injury. In fact, using any kind of electronic device while driving will make you 23 times more likely to get in an accident.

Several companies such as BMW and AT&T have already taken a stand against distracted driving and we would like to support their efforts. Whenever you are behind the wheel, keep in mind that your car’s best safety feature is you. Keeping your eyes on the road and watching out for other drivers is the best way to keep yourself and your passengers safe. To learn more about how you can help promote safe driving, visit the National Safety Council website.

A Culture of Safety

For over four decades, Handex has been dedicated to protecting the health and safety of our employees and clients. In fact, we are proud to say that we have one of the best safety cultures in the industry. We believe that a safe workplace promotes productivity, efficiency and high satisfaction among workers and clients alike.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Handex employees who have worked together and helped us achieve this monumental objective!
