Handex is proud to announce that as of February 27, 2017, we reached a huge milestone of 1,000 days without any worksite injuries. This accomplishment reflects Handex’s commitment to health and safety while demonstrating our ability to maintain a culture of accountability.
Handex emphasizes safety as a core value on every worksite. Not only do we value the health and safety of our employees, we know that customers will benefit as well. Companies want to hire contractors with a reputation for safety, since any injury on their property can affect their incident rates as well.
So What Does Handex Do Differently Than Other Companies in Our Industry?
Our employees participate in frequently held safety meetings and worksite supervisors promote a sense of family to ensure all workers are looking out for one another. We strive to make safety a tenet of our company culture. Not only are all Handex employees 40 hour HAZWOPER trained, they are also fully trained in the Loss Prevention System (LPS). LPS is a proactive behavioral based safety program designed to focus on leading indicators. Handex empowers each employee to be a safety specialist by encouraging hazard recognition and mitigation reporting. We also have zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol and perform random drug testing.
"Safety, to me (Handex), means three things. The first is that we have each other’s backs and that we send our people home safe and sound. The second is quality. Quality is Handex’s foundation and it starts and continues with the safety of our employees. The third is obvious. Safety is a huge contributing factor to the economic well being of our company.
Safety shows that we care about each other. It is about making today count and creating a plan to ensure we stay safe tomorrow."
- Bob Case, President/CEO
What Can Your Business Do to Promote Health and Safety?
Promoting health and safety at work is a sure way to reduce liabilities. At Handex, we invest heavily into the health and safety of all our personnel. Here are a few tips for promoting awareness throughout your company:
- Empower your employees – Authorize all employees to exercise a Stop Work Authority if they feel it is unsafe for any reason.
- Promote a culture of safety – Bring in safety experts to consult your staff and train employees on safe work practices. Make safety training a requirement of employment.
- Involve employees in pre-job analysis – This will help them determine how to do the job safely based on previous work.
Thank You Handex Employees!
